Today, we are going to discuss the final three keys to seeking and hearing God’s voice in our lives.

10. Let Go

This one is way easier to write than it is to do sometimes. To let go, means to drop our personal agenda and let God say and do what is in His heart. Although this often sounds dreadful, the truth is, God always has our best interest in mind and what we dread will always work for our good if we simply trust and obey.

“I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John 5:30 (NASB)

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2 (NASB)

“So Jesus answered them and said, ‘My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me. If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.’” John 7:16-18 (NASB)

11. Be Still

Don’t get antsy or try to pressure God to make Himself known right away. If you have done your part, trust Him to give you what you need over time. Timing is everything – but that is another blog…

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.” Colossians 3:15 (NASB)

“Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 (NASB)

12. Seek Confirmation

This is last on the list for a reason. Too many people seek outside advice or approval without first learning, listening and obeying for themselves. If you have done all of the other keys and are still a little unsure, then it is Okay to ask God for more confirmation. This can come in all kinds of forms and our space does not allow for exhaustive examination. Suffice it to say, it may come in the form of a prophetic word, a sign, a circumstance, a supernatural inner peace, etc. God deals with each of us differently and part of the relationship is learning about how He works in and through you.

“But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED.” Matthew 18:16 (NASB)

That concludes our series on Biblical Keys to Hearing From God. I hope you find these twelve keys helpful in seeking God’s voice in your life. Please share your testimonies with me.

Blessings!
